Essay

Do you know how many people have received the Medal of Honor in the American Civil War? There was about 1521 mens that had received it. Think about this, not all those heroes get a chance to wear it, and feell proud of what they have done. The ones that have earn it and are able to wear it, their are sure glad to be one of them heroes.
This medal symbolize sacrifice to me. It really hard to be able to earn a Medal of Honor. You need to put other before you. Which is really difficult because some people can not think that way. This medal is all about ability, having the power to earn it. To not be afraid.
It takes bravery in order to be awarded to Congressional Medal of Honor. In that situation I believe you do not think, is only just do it. Bravery is to have the valor to help someone in danger. Is to think about other and not only you. As like you may not think what might happened to you, but you sure know that the person needs help.
The Medal of Honor needs to be value. Once again it not easy to receive this medal. Who ever get it, the heroes should appreciate it. Sometimes it gets to that the person feels that they do not deserve it. People also might think that because a person having the medal and when something is in danger they are responsible to save someone.
Helping others is the something really important. They are risking their life for a stranger. This people were chosen to earn the medal because they have done something really good for that person and the nation.

Hajiro, Barney F.

Rank and organization: Private, U.S. Army, Company I, 442nd Regimental Combat Team. Place and date: Bruyeres and Biffontain, France, 19, 22 & 29 October, 1944. Born: 16 September 1916, Punene, Maui, Hawaii. Entered service at: Honolulu, Hawaii.

Citation:
Private Barney F. Hajiro distinguished himself by extraordinary heroism in action on 19, 22, and 29 October 1944, in the vicinity of Bruyeres and Biffontaine, eastern France. Private Hajiro, while acting as a sentry on top of an embankment on 19 October 1944, in the vicinity of Bruyeres, France, rendered assistance to allied troops attacking a house 200 yards away by exposing himself to enemy fire and dire
cting fire at an enemy strong point. He assisted the unit on his right by firing his automatic rifle and killing or wounding two enemy snipers. On 22 October 1944, he and one comrade took up an outpost security position about 50 yards to the right front of their platoon, concealed themselves, and ambushed an 18-man, heavily armed, enemy patrol, killing two, wounding one, and taking the remainder as prisoners. On 29 October 1944, in a wooded area in the vicinity of Biffontaine, France, Private Hajiro initiated an attack up the slope of a hill referred to as "Suicide Hill" by running forward approximately 100 yards under fire. He then advanced ahead of his comrades about 10 yards, drawing fire and spotting camouflaged machine gun nests. He fearlessly met fire with fire and single-handedly destroyed two machine gun nests and killed two enemy snipers. As a result of Private Hajiro’s heroic actions, the attack was successful. Private Hajiro’s extraordinary heroism and devotion to duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon him, his unit, and the United States Army.

Goals done for this month!

First of all the goal that I accomplish this month was to be on a parade. Actually it wasn't a parade were I went yesterday! Which I still count it as participating
at som
ething for school. It was at downtown we just stood on the streets
with a candle on our hands for a long time. People would thank us for lighting
their way.At the end I got real tired of standing there like a statue.

My second goal was to always try my best. Which ever i did not understood something. I tried
my best. For example at Mr. Bates's class (music class) When he gives us
new notes to play. I always try my best to make the beats sound right. So when i take the test I do it right.

A dream Deferred

What happens to a dream deferred?

Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?

Or fester lke a sore-
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over-
like a syrupy sweet?

Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.

Or does it explode?
By: Langston Hugues

What happens to your hopes?

Does it freeze
like the snow in the winter?
Or break like old concrete

And then turn to dust?
Does it taste like rotten fruit?
Or sweet and soft

like a gum?

Maybe it just pops
like bubbles.
Or does it disappears?
By:Erika

What I'm trying to say is what happens when a
hope is not accomplish. Does all this things happened to that hopes.
Because they are not accomplish they disappears and forgotten.

Quote

"There are those who are asking the devotees of civil rights, when will you be satisfied?" Martin Luther King Jr. (pg.372)

This was something important for them because they were not satisfied on how the
y were treaded. They did not had justice. They were not treaded equally like the rest of the people. So they would be satisfied until they had what they want. This is important to me because he was giving them hopes to never give up. Always try the best to make them be heard. To finally make them satisfied.

American Dream

My mom's American Dream was to come to the United States and work. To gives my brothers, sisters and me the best. She is really happy knowing that she had accomplished
this dream. One thing is that she still want to accomplish another dreams that she has. That
is to learn how to speak English. As also to become an American Citizen so she could
bring my two sister that live in Mexico.

One of my dad's dream is to have a better job. In order to finished the payment of the house faster. He wants to have all of his family in the United States. Another dream of his is he want to have all of his kids to be professional as to have a career. Which is half way completed! My bad want to become an American Citizen also. This are the dreams that he want to come true.

Immigrants

I would say that undocumented immigrants should be allowed to stay. I mean why not? They are here in order to work. As also to see their families or have an education. Understand, that they are here for their needs. Don't we live in the same world? Pretend a lady comes in to your house and you do not know that lady. So you would kick her out of your house. But before you do that she tells you that she has done the laundry, swept the floor and wash the dishes. She has done everything that you do not like to do. You would like her to stay so she could do it for you. So is the same as undocumented immigrants they do the hard work that most people do not like to do.

It would be horrible for immigrants if they are not allowed to stay. Like most of them have their child born in the United States. They would have to leave them all by themselves. The kids would be without their parents and the parents without their kids. Out of the United States do not have the same tools as here. They come for an surgery or medicine that is needed.

In my conclusion all people should be treated equally. We are all the same, we are humans. In your opinion why should undocumented immigrants be allowed to stay or why not? “Remember, remember always, that all of us...are descended from immigrants and revolutionists,” said Franklin D. Roosevelt the thirty-second President of the United States.

My second goal was to make more friends.

To not be afraid to talk. I really like to have a lot of friends, its fun. I still would like to make more friends.

Finally the last goals that I accomplish are to have a fun year and learn more. So far I am having a fun year. Its fun because I have new friends. They make me laugh all the time. Also because I'm having fun in class and learning at the same time.

Slave Narrative

Age:79
location: Arkansas

I know you might be really curios to know when I was a slave. To begin,
my name is Melissa and I'm 79 years old. I worked with my mom at my master's house. I can't remember a lot of thing because I tried to run away and I got hit by my master. When I fell my head hit a tube of metal. The most thing I remember was when my master treated my mom really bad.
I was standing watching what my mom was doing. Our master just came in really mad. I was really scared that I ran and hide. That was the
most horrible thing I saw. He grave some boiled water and throw it to my mom's leg. The only thing he did was he grave her and took her to a room.
I was not able to see my mom my master didn't let me. I would had to pick threw a hole to be able to see my mom. Everyday her injury was nastier red and big bumps on her skin. She couldn't even move because it hurt her. My master didn't feed her or anything he didn't care until she couldn't resist and died. Seen that time I had to do all the work that my mom did.
I was so skinny because i was not feed well. I had to work on the inside of the house. Everything had to be clean and the way the master told me if it wasn't I would get whipped. Being a slave left that it was never going to be an end. I felt like I was been born again when they told me I was free. I really though that freedom was never going to exist. But now I see that it does and I am really glad.

My values

Value

What I value the most is education and family. I think America value the most is business. Another thing I want to comment is that my classmates have different values. Which that is because we all have a different way of thinking.

I value the most is my family. That is because family is the one that support me. When ever I need help they are always there for me. They give me advises all the time. Education is also value to me because with out it you do not know nothing. Education is going to help me in the future to find a good job.

Most all of my classmates have different values. Some of the least values were nature, power and religion. For example power wasn't important to a classmate because you do not need power to succeed. Which I agree with that.
